The upcoming iPhone 16 and Google Pixel 9 could feature improved brightness displays sourced from Samsung.

The iPhone 16 and Google Pixel 9, anticipated as flagship releases in 2024, are reportedly set to feature Samsung-supplied displays, according to a recent report. Expected to be unveiled at separate events — Google's "Made by Google" event on August 13 and Apple's launch event likely in September — both smartphones are slated to adopt Samsung Display's latest OLED screens known as "M14".

Samsung Display, renowned for its OLED technology utilizing organic materials for vibrant colors, introduced the "M14" series, an upgrade from the previous "M13" found in devices like the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This type of display offers advantages such as self-lit pixels for deeper blacks and wider viewing angles compared to LCD screens.

The report indicates that while all models in Google's Pixel 9 lineup are set to use the "M14" displays, only the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to adopt them. The base models of the iPhone 16 series may retain the "M12" screens seen in their predecessors.

Industry sources suggest Samsung Display is gearing up for production, having initiated material procurement for the "M14" panels, which will cater to multiple variants including a possible Google Pixel Fold successor.

This move underscores a significant collaboration between Samsung and major smartphone manufacturers, aiming to enhance display quality and performance in upcoming flagship devices.
